Every two years, the global beekeeping community gathers to share knowledge, innovation, and solutions at the Apimondia International Apicultural Congress — the world’s largest event dedicated to bees, beekeeping, and pollination science.
In September 2025, the hive of activity shifts to Copenhagen, Denmark, as researchers, farmers, policymakers, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and bee advocates from across the globe convene under the theme:“Bees for Our Future: Healthy Pollinators, Healthy Planet.”
For Africa, this gathering offers a critical opportunity to:
Showcase our innovations in climate-resilient beekeeping
Advocate for increased investment in pollinator-based agriculture
Build partnerships for research, biodiversity, and rural enterprise
Ensure that African voices and priorities shape global bee policy
Why It Matters for East Africa
With East Africa emerging as a regional hub for sustainable apiculture, events like Apimondia 2025 create bridges between local action and global impact. It’s a platform for:
Highlighting indigenous knowledge and innovations
Learning from global best practices in hive management and pollination services
Engaging in international networks that can support local value chains
At SAADIT, we see Apimondia 2025 as a steppingstone toward strengthening our own regional agenda — including the upcoming East Africa Bee Symposium 2025 this November. It’s time for Africa to lead in reimagining beekeeping not just as a livelihood, but as a nature-based solution for food systems, biodiversity, and youth empowerment.
